Q    How far to the nearest Beach?

A    Duncannon, 8 miles from Warren Farm, is the nearest Beach which is very long, open and sandy.  There is a kite-surfing club at the beach and the village has several good pubs serving very good foods and seafood.  There are lots of other safe, sandy beaches and coves on both sides of Hook Peninsula and along the coast - Booley and Dollar Bays, Carnivan and Baginbun, Grange Strand, to name but a few.

Q    Do I need a car?

A    Yes, a car is essential. The nearest village with shops, pubs, restaurants, and post office is Campile about 4 Km away. The nearest large town New Ross, is 9 Km from the Farm. The local pub is about 3 Km. There is very little public transport available in the area.

Q    How do I travel to Ireland?

A    We are just under an hour's drive from Rosslare port.  We are 2 hours from Dublin and Dun Laoghaire ports and also from Cork.

There are Car Ferry services as follows:

Irish Ferries:

To: Rosslare from Fishguard and from Pembroke in Wales, U.K. and from Cherbourg and Roscoff in France.

Q    Do you live on the farm?

A    Yes, we live in the main farmhouse, which is close to the cottages, so we are nearby if you need any help or information. The main farming activity is tillage.  We grow malting barley for brewing Guinness and beer, and cattle and sheep can be seen grazing in the fields around the farmhouse in summertime.

Q    What is there to do when we stay in your cottages?

A    There is such a lot to do that most people say they were not able to do and see everything in a week!

Apart from exploring Wexford and Waterford, the neighbouring counties of Kilkenny, Carlow, Tipperary and Wicklow are also there to be discovered. There are lots of lovely walks and drives in the area as well as in the Blackstairs Mountains to the north of us, and in the Comeragh Mountains a bit further in Co. Waterford.  The east coast of Wexford has wonderfully long stretches of sandy beaches, including Curracloe Beach where "Saving Private Ryan" was filmed, and south-west Wexford has beautiful sheltered coves near Hook Peninsula, presided over by the ancient Hook Lighthouse, thought to be the oldest in the world!

There is a very good riding stables and a Par 3 Golf course within 3 Km of us, and there is the popular Oaklands Coarse Fishing lake, about 8 Km away. There are lots of excellent golf courses near us.  New Ross 18-hole is the nearest, but in easy reach is the renowned Mount Juliet Golf Course, also Waterford Castle Golf Course, Faithlegg Golf Course, St. Helen's Bay Golf in Rosslare, Dunmore East Golf Course and many other golf courses in the area.

The JFK Arboretum/Memorial Forest Park is a must to visit, and is about 3 Km from us.  It has thousands of trees and shrubs from all over the world in a lovely setting, and the viewing point at the top of Sliabh Coillte (the wooded hill) in the Arboretum provides fabulous walks with panoramic views of the surrounding 5 counties.

The town of New Ross has the tall ship "Dunbrody" which provides excellent interactive guided tours with actors in period costume and a database of passengers/emigrants to America & Canada. The annual New Ross Piano Festival at the end of September is steadily growing in popularity and stature.

Waterford, Wexford and Kilkenny are all quite different in character. Waterford City has a vibrant Viking Quarter close to Reginald's Tower and excellent award-winning museums. There is a great Waterford Crystal factory tour with an amazing showroom, and Waterford County has beautiful gardens and estates that are open to visitors.

Wexford town has a vibrant, artistic, friendly atmosphere and is home to the world-famous Wexford Opera Festival, held in mid-October each year. The eclectic Wexford Craft Trail is a chance to visit the craft workshops and meet the designers, and the Irish National Heritage Park near Wexford town provides a very enjoyable and interesting day exploring Ireland's early history from pre-historic eras to monastic times and the Viking period, with  life size reproductions, craft demonstrations and courses in a beautiful riverside location.

Kilkenny City is full of character with old shop-fronts and alleyways.  Kilkenny Castle offers a fascinating visitor tour, and the Kilkenny Design Yard and shop showcases the wealth of crafts and produce of the area. County Kilkenny has a designated Craft Trail where you can visit the individual showrooms and workshops to see the crafts in incubation and production.

There are ancient abbeys to visit - Dunbrody Abbey, Tintern Abbey, Jerpoint Abbey, and in New Ross, St. Mary's Abbey.

...I could go on, and on, but I think you will get the idea that there is lots to do in this area !

(Of course, you don't have to go anywhere and instead just 'chill out' and relax in the peace and quiet of the cottage!)
